Born the third of seven brood to the legendary warriors Balzavur and Yrlyassa Turnuroth, Shamash inherited a tradition of a noble combat style mixing weapons with magic, fighting alongside his clan against the Hobgoblin, Bugbears & evil Cloud Giants that sought control of the Giantspire Mountains that the dragonborn called home. Shamash's clan home, Roktarl, had stood for nearly a century until the arrival of Clan Kerrhylon in Midwinter of 1347 through a portal from Abeir. The Blue Dragon clan came in insurmountable numbers tearing through the Roktarl clan despite suffering heavy losses. Shamash's family and clan were wiped out, Shamash only surviving because his body was washed down by the Freose River where he was found by the Northman Healer, Ishmale and nursed back to life.
As soon as he was well enough he trekked straight back up the mountains to Roktarl to seek his vegeance, only to find the Kerrhylon Clan had returned to Abeir leaving not a single Roktarl dragonborn alive. No reason or motive could Shamash find as he searched through the remains of family and foe alike. The funeral pyre of the Roktarl dead lit the Giantspire skies for three days.
Persuaded by Ishmale to journey into the world rather than sit and dwell on his loss, Shamash vowed his vegeance and set off South West with the Northman for the lands of the Moonsea, and the reclamation of the city of Phlan.
Shamash is a dour individual, short tempered with those he considers time wasters. He lives for the thrill of combat combining his considerable skill with the Broadsword with his innate talent for magic to protect his friends and slay his foes without compunction. He seeks his fortune in the realms of men while always plotting his vengeance against the Kerryhylon clan, knowing that one day, surely, his chance for retribution will come.
